Colic
Colic is when an infant who isn’t sick or hungry cries for more than 3 hours a day, more than 3 days a week, for more than 3 weeks. It can affect 20% to 30% of infants! There are a wide range of causes including what mom is eating, what’s in the formula, feeding techniques or even parental STRESS! This makes it difficult to determine a set cause or even what truly defines colic. This leads to the diagnosis of ‘colic’ and parents aren’t left with a whole lot of answers on what to look for and where to go for help…just that their baby will “grow out of it”. But who wants to see their baby suffer for months at a time!
Using B.E.S.T. we address the nervous system because we find that a number of factors can lead to colic and discomfort including birth trauma, torticollis, digestive issues, tension and stress (yes, even babies can sense stress). All of which all lead back to the nervous system.
We encourage all babies to get checked out within the first few week after birth, so their transition in this world can be as smooth as possible.
